If you love crime shows, mysteries, and logic, you need to check out these whodunnit games! Following clues to solve mysteries develops logic, critical thinking, perseverance, and curiosity. It’s also helpful in everyday life! We’ve all had small mysteries of where a pair of shoes went, who ate our lunch, and what happened to our bank balance. Even if your kids aren’t pursuing a career as a detective, whodunnit games will only help them in their life!

Favorite Whodunnit Games

cat crimes

Cat Crimes can be played by a single player or cooperatively. Unfortunately, there are a limited number of logic puzzles in this game. However, it’s super cute! If you prefer dogs, Dog Crimes is very similar.

My favorite whodunnit game that we have tried is Alibi for its replayability and relative simplicity.

Escape Room Games

Make sure you also check out the various escape rooms my family has tried as these often scratch the same mystery and logic itch as whodunnits.

I would be remiss if I did not also let you know of my own no-prep, printable Whodunnit Escape Room.

Less-Favorite

Of course, Clue is a mainstay that everyone knows about and it comes in a variety of themes.

The version of 221B Baker Street that we tried (there are several out there) was not our favorite, but was a fun meld of Sherlock Holmes and the Time Machine.

CSI board game

The CSI: Crime Scene Investigators game is based on the popular TV show. We enjoyed solving the mysteries but didn’t like the board.

I think the gameplay of Carmen Sandiego is needlessly complex, but we will probably revisit it at least a few more times. The card game we tried is based on the ’90s computer game.

What do you think? Did I miss any? What are your favorite whodunnit games?
