Aargh, ye matey! With movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and books like Treasure Island, pirates have captivated the imagination of many people. For many years, my son was among that number, so we have quite a few pirate-themed games. Luckily, there are tons to choose from!
If you want to give your pirate-obsessed child more math practice, you can’t go wrong with Rainbow Math 3: Pirate Adventures.
For coding, Potato Pirates is a hilarious, pun-filled, and very cutthroat card game.
Explore Bluffaneer for practice with social skills, lying, bluffing, and reading people.
Open Sesame isn’t quite pirate-themed, but it’s adjacent, and great for working memory practice.
Of course, pirate-themed resource management games abound. Check out Loot, Catan Jr., Sail Away, Piratoons, and Deep Sea Adventure (also not quite pirate-themed, but close with treasure).
For a single-player logic game featuring treasure, check out Treasure Quest.
Silver and Gold is only loosely related to pirates with the usage of gold treasure, but it’s an excellent game for spatial awareness and working memory.
These games barely scratch the surface; there are so many pirate games! Which ones have I missed? Which are your favorites? One thing is certain: No matter what your goals are, you can accomplish them with pirates! 😉
