Fluxx games change quickly and are fast-paced. Many games are quick. They’re not cooperative, but so much fun! There are so many different versions, so whatever subject you want to learn, there’s probably a version available for you.

There are a TON of Fluxx games. We have Chemistry, Star Trek (TOS; there are multiple versions of Star Trek Fluxx), Jumanji, and Firefly. They are all fun. Thereâs also Math, Nature, Anatomy, and so many more!
How to play Fluxx
The basic rules for all Fluxx games are draw 1, play 1. But with each turn, the rules can be modified. How many cards you draw and play, hand limits, and win conditions are all changing.

One component of all Fluxx games are Keepers. These are cards you lay down in front of you, and theyâre needed for the different Goals, or win conditions. For example, Chemistry Fluxx has the goal of âHeat it Good.â If this goal is in play, you need one of an Erlenmeyer Flask, a Beaker, or a Test Tube, and you need a Bunsen Burner. Another goal is Water, which needs Hydrogen and Oxygen to win.
Action cards
There are also various Action cards, allowing you to get rid of cards, play extra cards, search through the discard pile for a card, trash new rules, and more. There are New Rules, requiring you to talk funny (âHelium Effectâ), âGet On With Itâ (discard your entire hand and draw three cards), and more.

Gameplay can be as short as five minutes, or as long as 30 or even 60 minutes. Rules start simple but can get very complex. Since theyâre all laid out in front of you, though, thereâs not a lot you have to remember or keep track of.
So far, weâve loved all the Fluxx games weâve tried. Interest-based are, of course, met with better reception than academic-based, but I still really enjoy Chemistry Fluxx (and no, I donât really like chemistry). If you havenât tried one yet, see if they have a Fluxx for one of your interests and give it a try!

New solo play option!
Looney Labs just created a way to play your favorite Fluxx game all by yourself! Now you don’t have to wait for someone else to be able to play with you. Happy Holidays from Fluxx!
